This guitar shows only a small amount of wear, and is super light.
It retains the made in USA transfer on the back of the headstock, (something you never see on a guitar of this age) it has the original J Stanley Johnson , the Queen Victoria building, metal plaque on the front of the headstock.
It appears to be all solid American beech, with a divine wood grain. Even the bridge has a similar grain to it.
It has a prewar V. neck and a nice playable action all the way up the neck.
The machine heads are most likely replacements, but look great and fit perfectly.
It comes with the original case in great condition with the original W H Stamford & Sons tag sewn into the interior of the case, proudly proclaiming they have covered the case with “Leatherette”.
We think the guitar was built in Chicago in. 1939, and weighs less than one and a half Kilos.
