Pono is a well-respected brand in the uke-world. Pono ukes are made by Ko'olau, a Hawaiian uke company that sought to produce a more affordable line whilst maintaining their high standards of craftsmanship.
Only the finest woods are used (only 20% of all purchased wood passes their quality tests!) for all Ko'olau and Pono instruments. The people at Pono use the finest grade of solid woods for body, neck, binding, purflings and bridges, bone for nut and saddle, mother of pearl for the logo and fingerboard position markers, and high quality Grover tuning machines.
Finishes are not merely minimal coatings to produce sheen, the ukes actually receive the same finishing procedure as the Ko’olau line, with applications of pore filler, sealer, finish coats, final wet sanding and buffing, all resulting in a stunningly beautiful instrument.
When a Pono uke is finished, it is inspected and setup at Ko'olau in Hawaii before shipment. This is why this Pono uke is absolutely immaculate!
This ukulele features a very cool stencil art showing a 'Mele' beach scene.
The uke has a solid spruce top (with rosette inlay), and solid mahogany back, and sides. The solid mahogany neck has a rosewood faceplate (headstock cap), fingerboard and bridge, pearl logo and fingerboard postion dots. Furthermore, nut and saddle are bone and this uke has been fitted with the high quality Grover tuners. Before shipment we'll upgrade the uke with Aquila strings and a final setup - so if you have any preferences, let us know!
This little beauty will be shipped in a deluxe lightweight hard hase and comes with Ko'olau warranty.
