Kanile'a ukuleles are hand made in Hawaii. This K-1 tenor is made with select solid koa wood. Koa only grows in a Hawaii and provides a unique sound, very clear and bright.
The grain of this uke is colourful and each uke is unique.
Kanile'a utilises a revolutionary UV cured finish system allows for unmatched protection for the ukulele. It is so remarkably thin though, allowing for tonal brilliance. The application is very similar to the old “Nitro” finish but with only three coats needed unlike our old finish that required 14 to 16 coats to achieve a true high gloss. However, the finish seems to be stronger than some nitro finishes with fewer scratches appearing on these ukes than most other gloss ukes.
The bracing is also unique.Joe from Kanile'a developed a symmetrical "touch and release" system for the bracing that captures the true potential of the whole sound board yet allowing for the proper overall stability. Although, this bracing system requires more work, each additional step is well worth it when the ultimate goal is to achieve the best sound. Joe has named this revolutionary style of bracing for the ukulele TRU (Total Resonating 'Ukulele) bracing. This TRU Bracing system has allowed for total resonance (projection, volume, and sustain) on all new Kanile'a ukuleles.
The weight of this uke is absolutely minimal.
The neck is nice and slim and action low.
